Sometimes, we feel defeated and disappointed because we don’t understand where we are on our “maturation map.” Or perhaps we don’t even know that there is a map! Our walk with God can become disillusioning when we expect the ease of our spiritual childhood to extend into the “young man” phase, which is all about growing strong and overcoming. Our maturity map is outlined clearly in I John 2: 12-14:
I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.
–I John 2:12-14, NKJV
This Scripture reveals that, as we grow in Him, God incrementally shifts from doing things for us to doing things with us to doing things as us!
I pray that this video has given you a snapshot of where you are on your “maturity map” and what the Father is seeking to develop in you during that phase of your growth. Be encouraged in knowing that, as you submit to the process of maturation, going from child to young man to father, endless exploits await you. In the Father’s heart is where you co-create with Him, birthing spiritual reality into the realm of earth! And in that place, nothing is impossible!
