The very first time I encountered Melchizedek, he was standing in a field of golden wheat, which I knew represented the harvest. He approached a white board and drew three dots aligned horizontally, explaining that this was past, present and future. I now understand that the present is the portal through which we can access the eternal realm and ultimately all of time itself! Melchizedek went on to explain that this is one of the keys of David and was how he accessed the new covenant before Jesus came in the flesh. Think about it… David said, Do not take Your Holy Spirit from me (Psalm 51:11) before the Holy Spirit was actually poured out in Acts 2. And David’s tabernacle had no veil!
After this encounter, I began having encounters where I saw the face of Yeshua, and His eyes looked like deep, fiery pools of eternity into which I felt irresistibly drawn. This happened numerous times, and then I began seeing Melchizedek’s timeline superimposed over the face of Yeshua, with past and future aligned with His eyes. The middle dot, the present, was between His eyes, aligned with the location of the pineal gland in the brain. This particular access point has tremendous significance, but here, my point is simply this: Yeshua, the I AM, is the Door to eternity, and beholding Him face to face NOW unlocks the realm of timelessness, where all things are freely available.
So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. –Genesis 32:30
In the eternal present, every day is new and every moment is new. Every breath is new. Every situation is an opportunity to forge a new path rather than become more deeply entrenched in the past. The I AM continually makes all things new. The eternal present, accessed through your oneness with the I AM, is the portal through which you can reframe your world, re-write your past and create your future! And you do this, by faith, through the gate of your imagination!
The Father offered me this beautiful invitation into the eternal realm years ago, and He is extending it to you now…
Come into My heart, child, beloved. It is your true home. In the deep, deep caverns of My passion for you, you will REMEMBER and you will BE. And from that place of I AM, you will begin to dream and to imagine clearly and specifically. Come and step into the largeness of My heart and the immenseness of My thoughts toward you. In this place, they are not dreams but reality, for everything exists in its entirety in My heart, and everything you see, experience and remember there is “yes and amen.” The only work lies in birthing it into the tangible realm, giving it form and substance. And even then, our work is joyous, exuberant play, as we dance and create together.
The Was, the Is and the Is To Come
And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Al- mighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” –Revelation 4:8, NASB
We see from this Scripture that God IS past, present and future. He encompasses all of existence. The Was, the Is and the Is To Come are not only aspects of God Himself, they are actual realms and dimensions that, in Him, we can step into and encounter.
In Exodus 3, God rocked Moses’ world with a burning bush and then made him even more uncomfortable by telling him to go confront Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses asked God what to tell the people when they asked the name of this God who had sent him, and this was God’s reply:
God said to Moshe,“Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh [I am/ will be what I am/will be],” and added, “Here is what to say to the people of Isra’el: ‘Ehyeh [I Am or I Will Be] has sent me to you.’”
–Exodus 3:14, CJB
The Hebrew word ehyeh in this passage comes from the word hayah. The Hebrew letter Hei speaks of God’s existence in time, so the two Hei‘s in the name He revealed to Moses have to do with the I AM opening the door to the I WILL BE. God revealed this glorious mystery again in this brilliant Self-description:
I am the Aleph and the Tav,” says the Lord God, “who is, who was, and who is to come, the Al- mighty.” –Revelation 1:8, TPT
It is no mistake that, in this passage, the Is comes first, rather than the Was, for the present is the portal through which we can step into the eternal realm, accessing all of time.
Whatever was, is. Whatever will be, is. That’s how it always is with God.
–Ecclesiastes 3:15, MSG
By stepping through the Is into the Was, you can remember who you were before coming into the earth realm. Knowing your identity as an eternal spirit being who is fully loved by God and who has been made one with Him at salvation helps you to let go of the superficial garments of false identity and limitation. From that place, you can also remember, from an eternal perspective, the goodness of God.
Once, as I was worshipping God for His awesomeness and His miraculous works, Holy Spirit revealed to me that I observed all the miracles of the Bible and more from my place in the Father’s heart. I saw Him part the Red Sea allowing the Israelites to cross on dry ground. I saw Him create the worlds by the words of His mouth. I am – and have always been – one with Him. I saw it all firsthand, nestled in His heart, peering out through His eyes. I saw it all, but had simply forgotten! In retrospect, I realized that, prior to this encounter, I had been succumbing to the lie I had not seen very many miracles. This powerful experience enabled me to recalibrate my belief system from natural to spiritual reality, which, as you have learned, allows that reality to manifest… in this case, in the form of miracles! As I continued to sing about His greatness and His faithfulness, I literally felt my spirit growing and expanding to fill space inside of me that had been empty before.
For when they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God, nor were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. –Romans 1:21, KJ21
From this passage, it is clear that forgetting the goodness of God will cause your imagination to be vain (empty, fruitless). But when you step into the Was to remember and to thank God for His faithfulness, you are paving the way for miracles. Remembering God’s faithfulness yesterday creates a framework for His faithfulness today and tomorrow. His goodness is the foundation for what your imagination continues to create.
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. –II Peter 1:9, KJV
We see from this verse that forgetting God’s goodness causes us to not be able to see afar off (imagine).
By stepping into the Was, you can reframe your world, literally creating a different outcome in any situation that is less than God’s kingdom of love, joy and peace.
Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho tells the story of a man in his church who was hit by a car while crossing the street and was in the hospital in critical condition. The doctors said there was no hope for him, and by the time Dr. Cho arrived at the hospital, the man was in a coma. He asked the Lord to bring the man to full consciousness for five minutes, and while He was still praying that prayer, the man opened his eyes. The man began to weep saying, “Pastor, I’m dying.” Cho knew he had been given the five minutes he asked for, so he quickly corrected the man, reminding him that as long as he thought he was dying, he would die. He told the man to use his imagination to picture his day before, during and after the accident, except with a different outcome. In his imagination, he had the man cross the street safely and return home, where he ate dinner with his wife and enjoyed a quiet evening… in perfect, vibrant health. So, the man imagined and Cho prayed, while the nurses in the room watched, laughing. But soon the room became supernaturally hot, the man’s bed started shaking from the power of God and, to everyone’s amazement, the man walked out of that hospital in perfect health in just one week. He had spoken the language of the Spirit and experienced the power of the imagination.
Did you know that you can use your imagination to reframe your world just like this on a daily basis? It is the most practical and efficient way of applying this Biblical principle:
Be angry, but don’t sin — don’t let the sun go down before you have dealt with the cause of your anger; otherwise you leave room for the Adversary. –Ephesians 4:25-27, CJB
Simply step into the Was to review the events of your day as you are drifting off to sleep. Often, Holy Spirit will highlight things to reframe and people to forgive, including yourself. Your imagination will make it easy to feel the feelings of love and forgiveness that you are choosing. And remember…you are literally redeeming time, creating a different outcome.
By entering the portal of the present, you can re-write your story and create your future. You are not a slave who is at the mercy of situations and circumstances. You are a king who creates them! Rewriting your story is nothing new. Jesus rewrote our story.
…It’s true that many died because of one man’s transgression, but how much greater will God’s grace and his gracious gift of acceptance overflow to many because of what one Man, Jesus, the Messiah, did for us! –Romans 5:15, TPT
My journey of learning to create with my imagination all started when I stepped out in faith on a word from God, a word that did not come to pass as I had expected. Devastated, I ran into His arms, and He asked me what I would be doing at this moment if that word had actually manifested. I began telling Him all the things I would be doing differently and how I would be feeling differently. He then asked me if I believed His word or my circumstances, and I confessed that I believed my circumstances. He responded:
Then you still believe the lie that you are subject to the natural realm. You do not yet believe (in your heart) that you possess the ability to change and create. You are not a victim. You are not at the mercy of time or your circumstances or this natural realm unless you believe the lie that you are. You are My child. You have My DNA. You are one with me, and you possess creative ability just as I do. Your thoughts, feelings, words, imagination and actions have limitless ability to create. And they have been creating. You have been investing many thoughts and many strong emotions into loss and lack. Your thoughts, emotions, words, actions and imagination are creating your world every day.
The Father then began revealing some deeply buried roots of disappointment in my life, roots that were continuing to produce the fruit of more disappointment. Remember… Where there’s fruit, there’s a root. He invited me to use my imagination to re-write my story, creating the feelings of longing satisfied. Hopeful, I jumped right in… and immediately got stuck. I was trying to make it add up with my analytical mind rather than imagining with the faith of a child. So, like the good, good Father that He is, He tenderly grabbed my hand and took me on a journey through my entire life, helping me to rewrite everything according to a revelation of the life of His Son.
The Father started from the moment of conception, showing me both the natural and spiritual realities of the life of Christ. In the natural, it appeared as though He was conceived in immorality. His earthly parents were poor until the wise men came with their gifts. They lived in a nation occupied by a foreign power, which is why Mary had to travel a great distance at the end of her pregnancy and had no proper place to give birth. BUT…. there were angelic visitations, the encounter with John the Baptist in the womb and the prophecy of Elizabeth. There were signs in the heavens, visits from the shepherds and wise men. There were encounters with Simeon and Anna in the temple. Jesus was surrounded by spirit beings and by a small group of people who had eyes to see. Most of all, there was a destiny. Jesus, the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world, stepped into time fully knowing what He was agreeing to… and knowing that He would overcome it all!
Through the portal of the eternal present, the Father and I went back to take a look at what was happening in the Spirit realm when I arrived here. I saw an explosion of light as I entered the portal of the womb. Angels and heavenly beings filled with ecstatic joy surrounded me in that place, singing, dancing and rejoicing, just as the angels did at the announcement of Yeshua’s birth. I saw angels sent from the Father specifically to give me spiritual and natural gifts that I would need for this earth-assignment, along with some that were given merely to bring joy to God and to others. These heavenly beings, like God, live outside of time and merely pop in and out of our timeline (a created thing). From that eternal perspective, they rejoiced because they saw the big picture and, knowing the end from the very beginning, knew I would overcome. I saw that God was right there with me in the womb, singing over me and surrounding me with light. Then I heard His voice. It was a familiar voice, one that I knew well from my eternal place in His heart…
Welcome to your new home, child. Remember that you are forever and always with Me in spirit. You now have a body so you can interface with the earth realm. You will have much to overcome, but you will. And in the overcoming there will be much authority and great joy. Your life will be a sign of a new age and, though you will have one foot in the old and one foot in the new, you will lead them out with singing. Remember, though humans will fail and forsake you, I will never leave you. Of this you can be sure. All of My sons experience a degree of misunderstanding, as the usurped authority is displaced and My kingdom expands. Do not de- spair and do not fear. I AM, I have always been and I will always be pleased…with you and with your arrival here on this earth. You, child, will be a conduit of heaven to earth, so stay connected to your true identity as an eternal being, always in My heart. Allow that reality to conform your soul. Your body will then align, demonstrating that all things are possible and that earth must bow to heaven and time to eternity. Look at My face and see My smile this moment. Feel the joy in My heart that you are here for such a time as this. Remember that we discussed this together before time began and that you chose this assignment and picked it out of numerous others. This is truly a glorious day. Look beyond what you feel this moment in the natural realm and see the big pic- ture. Do not be conformed to the emotions and lies that surround you but stay fixed and focused on Me and know this day that YOU are My delight.
Wisdom then showed up, dancing and rejoicing. She reminded me that her delight was with the sons of men (Proverbs 8:31). She, along with the Father, was delighting in my arrival here, welcoming me into this great classroom called earth. I then saw myriads of other heavenly beings with confetti and party hats that had been sent to celebrate my arrival. They were smiling, laughing and dancing. It was a crazy scene, and I couldn’t help but laugh. The joy was contagious. As I began to laugh, I saw a recalibration happening in my soul, transforming my norm from grief to joy.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]…
–Jeremiah 1:5, AMP
With that, I saw a huge book slam closed, and I knew that this chapter of my life was thoroughly conformed to spiritual truth by way of the life of the Son of God. I was not denying natural circumstances. I was looking THROUGH the illusion of this natural realm and INTO the true reality of what was happening in the realm of the spirit, which is a greater and more sure reality.
The Father and I walked through chapter after chapter, situation after situation, identifying fruit, eradicating roots, rewriting my story — each and every time by appropriating something in the earthly life of Yeshua. At salvation, I learned to step outside of time and appropriate His death as the sacrifice for my sin. But, before this encounter, I never understood that I could also step outside of time and appropriate every aspect of His life!
So, no matter what your arrival looked like in the natural realm, in the Spirit, there was a party welcoming you here. No matter what you have faced since you’ve been living in your “earth suit,” there is nothing that God cannot heal, restore and give you victory and authority over, if you choose to overcome. The earthly life of Yeshua has provided everything that you need for abundant, overflowing LIFE! And in Him, you can rewrite your story.
