We have covered lots of territory over the last few weeks, as we’ve discussed one of the most powerful co-creating tools: your imagination. Here are some practical keys that you can implement NOW to get started on your journey of miracles manifested and promises fulfilled!
* Surrender to God and receive His mind and heart for your situation. Think big!
* Combine the power of your imagination with positive affirmations, saying them aloud daily.
* Remember…it is consistent, habitual imagination that produces results, so establish a habit of doing your affirmations / imagination exercises for a few minutes each morning and each night. When you engage your imagination right before going to sleep, it allows your subconscious mind to go to work for you while you sleep. Make your imagination time a priority and set an alarm to remind you. Arrange your schedule so that you are able to do this in a relaxed, unhurried way.
* Find a quiet place, away from distraction.
* Start with the big picture (for example, a promotion at work), and then break it down into as much detail as possible. What color are the walls? What does your desk look like? Does your new office have windows? What kind of plant is sitting on your desk? Touch its leaves and feel the softness on your fingertips. If you are struggling to “see” it in the earth realm, start in the heavenly realm, where you know all things are possible. Find your starting point.
* Imagine the specific things in your life that will change when your miracle manifests, paying attention to anything that might be a hidden blockage. For example, maybe you desire a new house across town and don’t realize until you step INTO it in your imagination that you have anxiety about your children changing schools. Think it through, noting every potential blockage, but do not allow negative feelings to run the show. As the one who has been given stewardship over your life, proactively resolve every blockage as you are led by Holy Spirit.
* Imagine already BEING the person who has or does these things, because BEING will lead to HAVING. What kind of person has plenty of time, resources, relationships? Get specific with how you dress, how you carry yourself, how you interact with others, how you speak, how you spend your time and how you feel as that person. Visualize looking out from your own eyes rather than looking at yourself in third person.
* Create a vision board. Cut out pictures or print out digital images that are before your eyes every day, just like Jacob used with the striped and spotted livestock. For example, if you have diabetes, print out a picture of a healthy pancreas. If you are having trouble conceiving, print out a picture of a perfectly functioning reproductive system, a pregnant woman or a beautiful baby. If you are struggling with your weight, print out a picture of an outfit in your perfect size or a person who is your ideal weight. Get creative with it. Have fun.
* Align your outer world as a tangible point of agreement that will help what is already done inside of you to work its way out (I’ll talk more about that in a few weeks).
* Don’t get bogged down by trying to figure out how it will happen, but do inquire of the Lord concerning any incremental stewardship steps He has for you. For example, if God has promised you great wealth, do not become paralyzed because you can’t figure out how that will happen. Trust Him to bring it about. But you do need to ask, “Am I a wise steward of what I have already been given?” and “What are the incremental steps toward my goal?” If Holy Spirit reveals any action, DO IT and DO IT NOW! This is often where the breakdown occurs. Procrastination and avoidance are signs of fear, self-sabotage and inner conflict.
* Do not become discouraged if this does not happen immediately. In our “I want it now” culture, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that the strength gained in the contending is necessary for the stewarding. You may want to ask a trusted friend to hold you accountable every month or so, to make sure you are not becoming slack or discouraged. Keep going until your miracle manifests or until God clearly redirects you. You are God’s son. You don’t make decisions based on what you see. You don’t quit because it’s hard. You are only moved by Him.
