As we are turned right side out, restored to our original design, the physical body will no longer be a prisoner of the laws and limitations of earth. It is possible for you, as a spirit being, by faith, to overshadow your physical body and to take it into heaven for supernatural renewal. I learned about overshadowing in a powerful way several years ago, when I was ushered into a “king’s classroom” in the heavenly realm. Upon entering, I immediately noticed that both sides of this room were covered with exquisite tapestries embroidered with cherubim. Cherubim, as I learned, are extremely significant…
In Ezekiel 28:14, lucifer is described as the anointed cherub who covers. In this passage, the word translated anointed is Strong’s #H4473, which literally means, “expansion; outspread (i.e. with outstretched wings).” The word cover always has to do with nurture and protection, such as when Yeshua longed to gather Jerusalem under His wings (Luke 13:34; Matthew 23:37) and when we are fully protected because we are covered by the wings of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1-4).
In Scripture, we see cherubim guarding and protecting the entryway to Eden (Genesis 3:22-24), the throne of God (Ezekiel 10) and the Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25)…all of which are gates!
Eden was a gate to other realms and dimensions and to immortality. The cherubim guarded this gate, so that fallen man would not eat from the Tree of Life and live forever in a fallen state.
And the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), knowing [how to distinguish between] good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take from the tree of life as well, and eat [its fruit], and live [in this fallen, sinful condition] forever” — therefore the Lord God sent Adam away from the Garden of Eden, to till and cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So God drove the man out; and at the east of the Garden of Eden He [permanently] stationed the cherubim and the sword with the flashing blade which turned round and round [in every direction] to protect and guard the way (entrance, access) to the tree of life. –Genesis 3:22-24, AMP
The ark of the covenant, topped with the mercy seat, was also a gate, the place of interaction between God and man.
The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings and facing each other. The faces of the cherubim are to be looking downward toward the mercy seat. You shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony which I will give you. There I will meet with you; from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, I will speak [intimately] with you regarding every commandment that I will give you for the Israelites. –Exodus 25:20-22, AMP
The tabernacle of Moses is a picture of us: three-part beings who are created in the image of God. The Holy of Holies is the place where our inmost being connects with God’s heart. The Father’s heart is a dimensional, terrestrial, celestial and trans-galactic gateway, and, for us, is the doorway to intimacy with Him. It is also the portal of entry from the eternal realm into the earth. Lucifer’s job was to guard and protect this portal, covering it with worship, but he forfeited this position by exploiting it for his own gain.
Are you seeing a pattern here? God positioned two cherubim, whose wings formed an arc, to guard and to cover gates. An “arc” is also defined as, “a luminous electrical discharge between two electrodes or other points.” In other words, an arc is a place of agreement. Your agreement with heaven forms an arc that guards the portal through which miracles flow — you!
Like the Roman centurion who was both under authority and in authority, you are covered, and you also cover. Covered by His wings, you are fully submitted to Him, enjoying the privileges of protection, provision, healing, life and sustenance. You are also overshadowing, nurturing and protecting that which has been entrusted to you, starting with your own soul and your own body.
Grant Mahoney has an amazing testimony in his journey of overcoming diabetes. He overshadowed his body, took it into the heavenly and handed the Lord his pancreas. After doing this, he experienced perfect blood work for the next 3 months!
As you faithfully overshadow your soul and body, your influence will expand to cover your children, your employees and those who look to you for spiritual leadership. I have a friend who has become very skilled at expanding her spirit to overshadow her children, her loved ones and even animals, and she has witnessed radical and seemingly unexplained transformations by simply holding them in her heart.
As you abide under the shadow of the Almighty, you, like Peter, will, in turn, cast your shadow over neighborhoods, cities, regions, nations and all of creation…changing literal cityscapes and terraforming the earth!
…they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. –Acts 5:15, KJ21
